THE SENESCHAL'S HOUSE
House built in the second third of the 16th century at the crossroads of two major axes of the city, housing the tourist office.
Housing the tourist office today, the Seneschal house was listed as a historical monument, first in 1922 with regard to its façade on the Auguste Brizeux street, then in 1976 for the one on Félix Faure street. This corner house was built in the second third of the 16th century and restored in 1606. Located at the crossroads of two major areas of the city, the richness of its decoration gives it the appearance of a notable's house. This has led to it being considered as the seneschal's house, an officer of the court of the king. In 1565, the power of the judge of the royal court of Carhaix extended to sixty neighbouring parishes! On the outside, you can discover the square floors of the house which are in timber framing covered with slate and geometric patterns on the ground floor (especially the Renaissance style diamonds).
