Château de Keriolet, a true splendour with multiple symbols, offering a variety of events and exhibitions
Located a few minutes from the center of Concarneau, precisely on the heights of the city, 5 minutes from the Walled City, you can discover this superb castle which happens to be the former property of Zénaïde Narischkine Youssoupoff, countess of Chauveau, aunt of Tsar Nicolas II, Russian imperial princess, and her husband the count Charles de Chauveau. Beware, small masterpiece of great magnitude! Work of the architect Joseph Bigot (the one who redesigned the original manor house from the early 13th century), around 1870, it really deserves a visit and will not disappoint you! Especially when you know that its construction will have taken about twenty years... Just imagine! After the death of the princess, she donated it to the department as a token of Franco-Russian friendship. Since then, this jewel of 19th century architecture has been sold and resold many times, risking becoming a high school, a retirement home, and even a luxury hotel... It once belonged to the great-grandson of the princess, Felix Yusupov, famous for having participated in the assassination of Rasputin. Curiously enough, the manor has a motto: Always and still.... A beautiful symbol of perseverance and hope for our world. Don't miss to admire the southern facade overlooking the sea and the Glénan Islands, it is a true splendour with multiple symbols. Namely: during the season, different animations and exhibitions animate the castle of Keriolet (which can also be rented for private receptions).
