The Keroual wood, located near the Penfeld exhibition center, is home to many species of trees, both local and exotic
A real paradise for both walkers and joggers, Keroual Wood is located near the Penfeld exhibition centre, on the outskirts of the Ponant city. It is home to many species of trees, local and exotic. On nearly 50 hectares of greenery, Keroual offers its visitors many leisure activities: a large playground for children, a gourmet stopover in the old mill that became the Blé Noir creperie or even walks along the lakes or in the park of the Keroual manor house. The latter, which hosts the Astropolis electro festival every summer, is immersed in the story of its most famous occupant, who gave it her name: Louise de Keroual. At the beginning of the 18th century, this woman, originally from Guilers, was both Duchess of Portsmouth and Aubigny, mistress of King Charles II of England and spy in the service of Louis XIV. The manor house, modified during the 18th century and almost entirely destroyed during the Second World War, was then restored to remain the property of the city of Brest. Its vocation is now cultural: it hosts many artists in residence, whose works are often seen during walks in the forest.
