CEZON ISLAND
Cezon Island is located 400 m from the shore, accessible at low tide and is part of a group of islets, including Guénnioc (rich in prehistoric remains), Stagadon (an old seaweed farm), the Virgin Island (with the highest lighthouse in Europe), etc. Fortifications were built by Vauban in the 17th century, during the reign of Louis XIV, to protect the Aber Wrac'h and avoid a land takeover of Brest. Cezon Island, invested by the German army at the end of the Second World War, was then integrated into the Atlantic Wall. This exceptional architectural complex has now been listed as a Historic Monument since July 2015.
