CHEZ JEAN-LOUIS PROBST
Alsatian house of character in the heart of the village of Werentzhouse with rustic guest rooms
In the heart of this small village of 600 inhabitants lies a pretty Alsatian house housing the B&B run by the Probst couple. Jean-Louis Probst is like his house, or his house like its owner. Both have strong character! The style of the house and rooms is rustic. Each room has its own bathroom, toilet and washbasin, but no television! Because, according to the owner, it's more pleasant to chat around the table than to sit on the sofa, eyes glued to the small screen! He's outspoken, but he's also a bon vivant! In fact, this side of his personality shines through when, in the kitchen, he concocts delicious traditional dishes and unmissable local specialties, including fried carp, for his dinner guests. A bit of a backpacker, he designs tours of the surrounding area lasting an hour or more, depending on requests. He recommends visiting Switzerland by streetcar, as there is little parking on the other side of the border. The Black Forest and the Vosges are two other places to discover. The many facets of this gentleman are the main attraction of this stop.
