OUR LADY OF GOOD NEWS CHAPEL
Notre-Dame-de-Bonne-Nouvelle chapel in a bucolic setting, with a washhouse with 3 basins, a fountain and a calvary.
To access this chapel, you will have to take a small sloping path from downtown Locronan. At the end of this path, the Notre-Dame-de-Bonne-Nouvelle chapel, in its bucolic setting, dates from the 16th century, classified as a Historic Monument in 1915, it will certainly give you a feeling of calm and serenity... Remodelled and enlarged in the 16th and 17th centuries, it houses some stone statues such as the Virgin Mother or the Holy Trinity. It is surmounted by a lantern that rings on the day of forgiveness. It will also feature exceptional modern stained glass windows by Alfred Manessier (1985) that decorate it. Outside, you can discover a pretty fountain from 1698, dedicated to St Eutrope, it is extended by a wash-house with 3 basins. Until 1960, a niche housed a statue of the saint who disappeared, it is said that in the years of the Great Trinidad, (one of the greatest pardons in Brittany that gave rise to an exceptional procession, considered a great moment of the expression of the Breton faith), the inhabitants plunged the relics of Saint Eutrope into this fountain, then distributed the water that then had the power to heal everything. This fountain and the Calvary were both classified in 1926.
