VIRGIN ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE
The 82.50 m high lighthouse features a suspended staircase and interior walls lined with opaline tiles.
At 82.50 m high, the Île Vierge lighthouse is the highest lighthouse in Europe and the highest freestone lighthouse in the world. Commissioned in 1902, it features a suspended staircase and opaline-tiled interior walls. To reach the parapet walk, 383 steps: the panorama over the archipelago and Ouessant is well worth the effort! Please note: access to the island is by boat (or on foot, during high tides). To visit the island, you'll need to book both the crossing and the guided tour with Les Vedettes des Abers.
