FRANCE HALIOTIS
Welcome to all lovers of the seaside for an in-depth discovery of Finisterian farmed abalone, located at the entrance to Aber Wrac'h, in Lilia.
At France Haliotis, created fifteen years ago by Sylvain Huchette, you will be able to discover, during a one-hour visit, the fascinating life of an abalone farm, from spat (early stages of development, managed on site on land) to the final abalone, which you can even taste at the end of the visit, under the guidance of the group's chef. The only abalone culture in the world to have the Organic Agriculture label, they are grown from a few weeks of life in the waters of the Aber Wrac'h, and are regularly fed with fresh seaweed, harvested sustainably and by hand by the team itself. You will also discover how a seaside company manages seasonal hazards, storm periods having a high impact on the development of the sector.
The company also has an online shop, where you can buy canned abalone preparations, including a new spread developed in collaboration with the famous chef of the Japanese restaurant Hinoki in Brest. The site also features abalone mother-of-pearl earrings, a technical innovation developed by Sylvain's wife to give a second life to precious shells.
Here, you will have understood it, everything makes sense, and this company full of common sense really deserves a visit.
