FORT DU DELLEC
A popular walking fort built by Vauban to counter the English threat and defend the Brest roadstead.
Located on the coastal road linking Brest to Le Conquet, the Dellec fort was built by Vauban in the 17th century to face the English threat and defend the harbour of Brest. It did so for two centuries, before being occupied by the German army during the Second World War. Then abandoned, it was given to the town of Plouzané and opened to the public in the early 1980s, becoming a popular place to stroll, where the vegetation appropriates the stones and walls. In 1995, after some modifications, it became an outdoor cultural and leisure area: it now hosts festivals, shows and various sporting events, especially in summer. Feel free to stroll around, picnic and climb the lookouts, you will witness the superb spectacle offered by the passage of many ships in the Brest Narrows, against the backdrop of the Crozon peninsula. A popular place for families, for a moment of relaxation and discovery! Note: on either side of the site, you will find the beach and the small port of the same name.
Every Friday evening in July is the "Le Dellec en juillet" festival. Program on the city site.
