BIGOUDEN MONUMENT
This monument on the banks of the Pont-l'Abbé river was designed by François Bazin in 1931.
Located on the banks of the river in Pont-l'Abbé, near the church of Notre-Dame-des-Carmes, this monument is the work of François Bazin in 1931, composed of four women and a child, all Bigouden at different stages of life. Built in granite and bronze, it evokes the matriarchal dimension of Bigouden society through five emblematic figures in traditional dress. It is the representation of the five ages of the woman waiting for the return of the man from the sea. As for the two bronze bas-reliefs, they tell scenes from Celtic mythology.
