QUARTIER DE LOCMARIA
Locmaria is the Quimper district that has been developing for the past ten years. Its 18th century Romanesque church, Place Bérardier, is the heart of this small complex on the banks of the Odet. We will not fail to admire the priory, next to the church, which contains a few shops, a temporary exhibition room and a very good table in Quimper, of the same name. Opposite, the Henriot-Quimper faience factory, created in 1690, can be visited all year round. Going up the square, don't miss a visit to the Quimper biscuit factory for a few gourmet shopping (the kouign-amann with churned butter made on site is a must and can be enjoyed before buying!). Going up, Pascal Jaouen's embroidery school overlooks rue Haute. There is an embroidery shop and temporary exhibitions from time to time. The Kemper (Back) connected brewery is also due to open in 2019 on Place Bérardier.
Below this square, on the banks of the Odet, the priory garden, laid out in 1997 in the spirit of the medieval monastery gardens, is a small shaded haven of peace, decorated with many species of local and aromatic plants. You can continue the walk in this district of Locmaria for a short kilometre along the banks of Odet, on one side. Or take the charming cobbled street, Jean-Baptiste Bousquet, to the Place du Styvel where La maison jaune (bar and concerts), Ty mousse (beer bar), the Restau à vin (a good table to test) and the pub Saint-Andrew's await you. When the evenings lengthen in summer, it is on the terraces of this square that you can enjoy the last rays of sunshine of the day!
