OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION
A remarkable church with a big square tower, a beautiful example of Breton Renaissance architecture, to discover in Quimperlé.
With its large square tower, the easily recognizable church is a fine example of Breton Renaissance architecture. Today better known as the Saint-Michel church, a name that was given to it in the seventeenth century, it was built in two phases: first the nave, which dates from the late thirteenth century, then the choir, the bell tower and porches were rebuilt in the early fifteenth century in flamboyant gothic style. Overlooking Haute Ville, the Notre-Dame de l'Assomption church is classified as a historical monument and preserves such a rich collection of statues and one of the oldest quarries of Brittany (1430).
