The bay of Pempoul is a dream place for cockle fishermen, but it is also a pleasant place for a stroll. You will discover the seaside part of the city, the beach, the nautical center, the park of Kernévez and its private castle, as well as the islet Sainte-Anne. After having known an important activity in the Middle Ages, thanks to the export of wheat, the import of wines but also the departures of the fishermen towards Newfoundland or the Coatanlem corsairs towards Bristol, the small port of Pempoul declined in favour of that of Roscoff, in particular because of its silting up.

La baie de Pempoul, bordée à gauche par l'îlot de la plage Ste-Anne offre un très joli point de vue. De ce port, partaient les pêcheurs pour Terre-Neuve ou les aventuriers vers l'Amérique du Sud. Jusqu'au XVIIe siècle, son port vivait du commerce de la toile et du vin. Son ensablement progressif sonne la fin de son activité maritime au profit de Roscoff, autre port de Saint-Pol jusqu'à la Révolution.
