Scattered here and there in the fields or river beds, they are cross-shaped, hence the name "croisettes of Brittany." It is claimed that these stones were effective against shipwrecks, rabid dogs and sore eyes. They were also placed in front of houses for protection against lightning, which also earned them the name "thunder stone". They can be found at the Coadry chapel museum which opens on forgiveness days - check with the tourist office.
