MUSEUM OF THE RURAL SCHOOL IN BRITTANY
A museum offering a journey back in time to those who decide to step into the old playground and classroom.
Built in 1907, the Trégarvan school welcomed several generations of pupils until 1974. Today, the school is home to the Musée de l'École rurale en Bretagne. It offers a journey back in time to those who decide to tread the old playground and enter the classroom. The visit continues with an evocation of the school day and the discovery, upstairs, of the teachers' lodgings. Other aspects of schoolchildren's lives in the last century are covered, such as the classic page of writing with a pen and violet ink, or solving tough problems for the Certificat d'Études. Temporary exhibitions, renewed each year, focus on themes relating to schools past and present. Please note: During the school year, the team welcomes schools and organizes "Old School Days" following a pre-established program with teachers, enhanced by various activities (goose games, yard games, guided tours).
