This beautiful medieval residence immerses visitors in the romantic atmosphere of a Breton château.

Enter the cradle of Romanticism in Brittany, like that of the famous writer Chateaubriand (1768-1848)! Built in the 12th century, this medieval residence immerses visitors in the romantic atmosphere of a 19th-century Breton château. The view of the building from Lac Tranquille is superb. There's also a boutique and a charming tearoom. A one- to two-hour visit to the château and its gardens will enchant you. Its beauty, mysteries and surprises make for a spellbinding and unforgettable historical journey.

We enjoyed a romantic horse carriage ride through the beautiful park. The tour of the castle was fascinating and it’s so rare to see a fully furnished private château in France. The tastefully designed gift shop & café is unlike any other with unique artisanal souvenirs, delicious pastries, and a lovely ambiance. Decorated with abstract paintings by a talented contemporary artist, the newly renovated space is chic and modern but remains in perfect harmony with the medieval architecture of the castle. A hidden gem. Our children loved playing in the fields and strolling around the castle’s lake. Many thanks to the friendly guides for making our visit so memorable! We were grateful to immerse in a cultural experience after such a long confinement. Bravo to the owners for the impeccable restoration & preservation of the château and its domaine. Long live Combourg!

Un joli château avec un parc agréable, où il fait bon flâner lorsque le soleil brille. L'intérieur nous plonge dans une atmosphère du 19ème siècle mais également bien avant cela. L'histoire de ce lieu est pleine de romantisme. A voir.

A visiter obligatoirement :-)
