The Broceliande forest, also known as the Paimpont forest, is a place full of surprises and wonders.

Also known as the forest of Paimpont, the Brocéliande forest is a place where tales, surprises and wonders from another time abound. Covering more than 7,000 hectares, you'll find yourself in the heart of one of the most famous sites of Arthurian legends. The Barenton fountain, the Miroir aux Fées, Merlin's tomb and Comper castle (dating from the 9th century) bring together magic, legends and enchantment. This aura of mystery earned Brocéliande a place in the literature of many authors, including Chrétien de Troyes, as early as the Middle Ages. It was the setting for the adventures of the Knights of the Round Table in their quest for the Grail. History and myth intertwine as you discover the many paths that dot the forest (on foot, by bike or even on horseback!). You'll marvel at century-old "remarkable" trees such as the Hindrés oak, the Anatole le Braz oak and the Arbre d'Or at Val sans retour. Last but not least, Brocéliande is a family destination par excellence, with numerous storytelling walks, show trails and children's activities on offer during the school vacations. After the fires of 2022, in 2023, storm Ciaran brought down the Ponthus Beech, also known as the "King of Brocéliande". Privately owned, access to the estate is limited in autumn and winter, mainly due to hunting. It's up to you to get a map of the forest from the tourist office, and enjoy some great adventures in the land of legends.

The Brocéliande forest is the place to go when you go to Brittany. Various sites take you in the footsteps of King Arthur, of Table Ronde, of Merlin,... This is a delightful place that is worth the detour. However, I was a little disappointed by merlin's tomb, I expect some more and disappointment also during the visit of the val sans retour, I thought to see a beautiful waterfall and the drought was right of it...
