A generous kitchen in a neighbourhood bistro near the central halls
A stone's throw from the central halls, in the heart of Rennes, we appreciate Paul Béranger's comforting and familiar neighbourhood bistro. When you enter Chez Paul, you plunge into the popular atmosphere halfway between the Parisian café and the village bistro. Wooden tables, mosaics on the floor, red benches, frescoes from the bistro to the wall set the scene, but the atmosphere is above all given by the boiling that takes place every lunch and evening. Where there are no concessions is in the kitchen. This is serious business. Nothing revolutionary, but a generous cuisine that ennobles the terrines (there is always one with slate and it is served directly on the dish as at home). On that day, you can enjoy a good parmentier of beef in red wine with old silver cutlery (the privilege of the counter). Desserts compete with each other in terms of delicacy but also lightness: mille-feuille vanilla from Madagascar, Breton shortbread, creamy lemon... Always served with a good wine. God, it's good!

J'y retournerai.
