LE CAVEAU DU CHAPITRE
Just a stone's throw from the cathedral, you have to dig up this vault and go down three steps to reach its sanctuary. Below street level, as its name suggests, is this night bar with its exposed beams decorated with quotations from Valéry, its brick walls, its corners made of suitcases, its chrome-plated brass and its engraved beams. Open since 1968, it is the oldest night bar in the city, and has surely seen several generations of Rennes families! A good address to continue a lively evening with friends after the bars close. On site, the atmosphere is unique and you can easily abandon yourself to the rhythms of the night and night owls in this address in old Rennes. A place where the music is varied and tasteful, full of standards that keep young and old swinging until the end of the night. Beware though: the Caveau is quite small and very crowded, not everyone can cram into it! So the best thing to do is to arrive before the traditional bars close if you don't want to spend the evening on the stairs! Please note that you can reserve the venue for private parties until midnight.
