O’CONNELL’S IRISH-BAR
A small piece of Temple Bar (the pubs neighbourhood of the Irish capital) teleported to the Place du Parlement in this pub which is one of the greatest pubs in the city! We are delighted by the Irish atmosphere, waving between famous writers' portraits and references to the country preferred sports. The vintage decoration makes it a family bar as well as a place where to spend evenings listening to Irish music or watching the game of the day. A selection of Irish beers (including draught Guinness) and Anglo-Saxon crisps with typical flavours and dry sausages will cheer evenings up. The bonuses: the huge toilets which prevent from queuing. The small terrace with a view over the Parlement of Brittany is ideal on sunny days to taste their cuisine at lunchtime. We are admittedly far from the centenarian public houses on Saint-Stephen's Street, but the O'Connell's succeeds in recreating the festive atmosphere of Dublin nights. Here, the Guinness flows like water, we surprise ourselves by partying with strangers. The owner (a true Irish from Ireland) is not a sectarian and does not sell only beers brewed on the green island but also the very good Newcastle Brown Ale from the former English enemy. You are asked the question "In half or pint?" by "stressing" the second option… The terrace, overlooking this magnificent place full of history, is also one of the best in Rennes in the early evening, but places are expensive there. Then, welcome in this perennially lively bar!
