UFR SCIENCES DE LA VIE ET DE L’ENVIRONNEMENT
This UFR federates research laboratories and organizes training in Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Cell Biology, Animal and Plant Biology, Biology-Management, Ecology, Environment, Ethology, Evolution, Genetics, Microbiology, Animal and Plant Physiology... It has 2,800 students, 107 university professors and lecturers, 41 other teachers (Prag, Prce, Ater, monitors) and nearly 30 technical and administrative staff. The training and research unit (UFR) in Life and Environmental Sciences (SVE) has existed in Rennes since 1985. In the European Licence-Master-Doctorat (LMD) scheme, the 3 years of the Biology licence allow, from a common base given in the 1st year, a progressive orientation of the students in the following fields: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Animal Physiology, Plant Sciences, Organismal Biology, Life and Earth Sciences, and Nutraceutical Engineering (Pharmacy Department). The Biology degree prepares students to enter a wide range of master's degrees divided into 9 fields: "Molecular and Cellular Biology", "Bioinformatics", "Microbiology", "Biology Agrosciences", "Nutrition, Food Sciences", "Ethology", "Biogeosciences", "Biodiversity, Ecology, Environment", "Environmental Management" as well as masters dedicated to "Professions in Education, teaching and training - MEEF for middle and high school teachers in Life and Earth Sciences". The training offer also includes two professional licenses and a Life Sciences license minor designed for students who wish to become school teachers or prepare for public service exams.
