CITÉ JUDICIAIRE
Cité judiciaire de Rennes, like a spaceship, with a futuristic design reminiscent of a science-fiction setting
Built in 1982 by architects Brajon, Nicolas and Ressaussière, the Cité Judiciaire is indicative of a bygone era, when daring was encouraged and a healthy economy allowed for the wildest architectural extravagances. Nicknamed the Flying Saucer for its style straight out of a science-fiction film, the building houses the Tribunal d'Instance, the Tribunal de Grande Instance, the Tribunal de Commerce and the Conseil des Prud'hommes. Its futuristic design and the vast expanse of grass that surrounds it accentuate the aura of strangeness, like a spaceship in the middle of the city. You'd think you were dreaming! While it's a shame it's not open to the public, it's well worth a visit.
