LE BELVÉDERE
Aerial platform designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, offering a unique view of the Vilaine River and the wonders of Rennes
Inaugurated in 2020, Le Belvédère was created by the Breton brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. This aerial platform on the Vilaine offers a unique view of the river and its barges, as well as Rennes' Saint-Pierre cathedral, the Mabilais tower and the city center. The Belvedere, made of concrete, stainless steel, aluminium and steel, reaches a height of eleven metres. By day, its sixteen small windmills spin in the breeze; at nightfall, the platform lights up. With Le Belvédère, Rennes joins the list of cities hosting works by the duo, following in the footsteps of Chicago, London and New York.
