TANNERY PARK
Park with an English garden, beautiful trees and remarkable villa, a site conducive to relaxation and discovery.
Parc des Tanneurs has only been open to the public since 1999. It was originally owned by the Bolelli family, tanners from Rennes. It punctuates the green itinerary between the city center and the natural site of the Prairies Saint-Martin, descending towards the banks of the Vilaine. Some 90 trees, including large specimens such as chestnuts and redwoods, line the paths of this English-style garden. Pines, beeches, chestnuts and squirrels also add life to the park. Overlooking the park, a villa built at the end of the 19th century was long owned by several tannery families. Today, the villa houses a European institution: the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions. General de Gaulle even spent two nights here in the 60s. He was a friend of Bolelli. A bed with an alcove was specially made for him. Naturally, the 1.1-hectare park was opened to the public, who discover a calm, harmonious, undulating space. The park is an ideal place to relax, discover and stroll in the shade of its century-old trees.
