GUESCLIN ISLAND
An island with a fort occupied by the Germans during the war, now accessible via a stone staircase.
This island is located a few hundred meters from the beach. It stands out thanks to its fort built on Vauban's instructions in the 18th century. This beautiful site was occupied by the Germans during the Second World War. They rearranged the loopholes and installed an anti-aircraft gun. After the war, Léo Ferré, a lover of the sea and a legendary artist, came to live there and composed many of his songs. Today, Serge Porcher and other artists bring this fort to life, accessible by a stone staircase when the sea recedes.
