THE BEACH OF GUESCLIN COVE
A pretty beach with a fortress transformed into a fort to defend the coast against enemy landings
Nestling between the Pointe du Nid and the Pointe des Grands Nez, this pretty beach borders the bottom of Anse du Guesclin, the historic birthplace of Saint-Coulomb. Around the year 800, Bertrand du Guesclin's ancestors built a fortress here, which welcomed the English king "Jean sans terre". It was transformed into a fort in the 18th century to defend the coast against enemy landings and privateers. Léo Ferré even lived on this islet with his guenon Pépé until 1968.
