A zoo located in Saint-Malo, offering an extraordinary journey to discover freshwater animals and reptiles from all over the world.
This extraordinary place, located in the ramparts of Saint-Malo, was once the first aquarium of the city. Unused for more than twenty years, it has recently come back to life in a nice way, thanks to two young naturalism enthusiasts: Clément and Antoine. They had the chance to be accompanied in their project by the historical creator of the1st aquarium of Saint-Malo, Maurice Chichportiche. Despite the latter's disappearance at the end of 2019, the Micro Zoo opened its doors in April 2020, and offers an extraordinary journey of discovery of freshwater animals and reptiles from all over the world. Along this 140-metre long corridor, nestled in the ramparts of the corsair city, the vivariums are judiciously arranged, and sometimes bring together fauna that we are not used to seeing together. The habitats are reconstructed with natural materials, for a very successful effect, and everyone will enjoy the show thanks to benches and footbridges made available to the youngest. An application allows you to enjoy an "augmented" visit with many explanations, to know everything about these reptiles, ants, fish, amphibians, birds... A beautiful collection of insects completes this visit to be made in family, for the pleasure of all. In less than an hour, you will be amazed to discover the diversity of the small fauna of our planet, from the seabed to the deserts, from the mangroves to the tropical forests. The Micro Zoo is sometimes in tune with the season, like during the All Saints' Day holidays when it celebrates Halloween.
