SAINT-MALO CASTLE
Castle founded by the Dukes of Brittany, housing the town hall and the Museum of the History of the City in the dungeon and the General tower.
The castle of Saint-Malo was built by the Dukes of Brittany between the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries. This place is classified as a historical monument since 1886. Now, it houses the town hall located in the building which is decorated with carved woodwork dating from the late seventeenth century. They come from a former shipowner's hotel destroyed in 1944. In the 16th century a triangular bastion was added and it is called the Cour de la Galère. The Museum of the History of the City is now closed but the place still bears witness to the history of the city of Saint Malo.
