LE GRAND BÉ
An islet in the extension of Bon-Secours beach, home to the tomb of writer François-René de Chateaubriand.
The Grand Bé is a must of the city located in the extension of the Bon-Secours beach. At low tide, a path leads to this almost uninhabited islet where the grave of the writer François-René de Chateaubriand resides. After negotiations with the municipality, the writer was allowed to rest there at his request. His tomb has these words: "A great French writer wanted to rest here to hear only the wind and the sea. Passant respects his last wish." Enjoy the place and the view. Beware of the rising tide.
