NOTRE DAME CHURCH
This church, financed by the Confrérie des Marchands d'Outre-Mer, is surprising for its multiple architectural influences
This former collegiate church was created by the lords of Vitré in the 15th and 16th centuries, and financed by the Confrérie des Marchands d'Outre-Mer. The church has a surprisingly wide range of architectural influences, with a flamboyant Gothic décor to the south, decorated with seven gables, pinnacles, gargoyles, large windows and an exterior pulpit. To the west, a Renaissance portal with sculpted casements stands out. Inside, there are altarpieces and a Renaissance stained glass window. As you leave, admire the panoramic view of the surrounding countryside from the Benedictine garden.
