MILK STREET
A busy shopping street leading to Saint-Gildas church, right in the center of Auray.
Situated in the centre of the pretty little town of Auray, the rue du Lait, a busy shopping street, leads to the church of Saint-Gildas. This church was built in the 17th century and its main interest lies in the sumptuous lavallois altarpiece of stone, marble and gold dating from 1657. Nearby, below Place Notre-Dame, you can discover the imposing 13th-century building of the Commanderie du Saint-Esprit, which, successively from the 18th century on, was a general hospital, infantry barracks and fire station.
