THE GREAT LIGHT
The Grand Phare de Bangor, one of the most powerful lighthouses in France, with an outdoor terrace 44 m above sea level.
The Goulphar lighthouse, or Grand Phare de Kervilahouen, went into service in 1836. With its 52-metre granite tower, it is one of the most powerful lighthouses in France, as well as the highest and oldest in Morbihan, and has been listed as a Monument Historique since 2011. To get an idea of its height, climb up there! After climbing the 247 steps, you'll reach the outdoor terrace 44 m above sea level. In fine weather, the panoramic view of the island and mainland is breathtaking. It takes 30 minutes to visit the lighthouse, and the exhibition is open to the public.
