SWEETHEART OF DECEPTION
A beautiful chapel built in 1902 on a wooded hillside in Berné, its remarkable frescoes retrace its history.
Often referred to as the Breton Montmartre because of its similarity to the latter (it is in fact a smaller version of the Montmartre Basilica), this beautiful chapel was built in 1902 and restored several times. It is situated at the top of a wooded hill, just outside the town, and overlooks the surrounding countryside. The chapel of the Sacred Heart evokes the devotion to the Heart of Jesus, which became the symbol of the Chouans' revolt during the revolutionary period. The frescoes inside tell its story. A visit is necessary...
