ARMEMENT GWENN HA DU
Brech is famous for being the birthplace of the Breton flag, the Gwenn ha du. This flag was created in 1925 by Breton activist Morvan Marchal, and has since become the undisputed symbol of Brittany. The Gwenn ha du consists of nine alternating black and white stripes, accompanied by a semiset of ermine. The black stripes represent the countries of Upper Brittany, while the white stripes represent the countries of Lower Brittany. The flag is synonymous with diversity and unity in the region. Although disputed in its early days, the Gwenn ha du has gained ground over the years and lost all political and separatist connotations.
