It was during the first half of the 16th century that the construction of the chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Good News, patron saint of travellers and sailors, began. Originally, it was shaped like a barn because it had no bell tower and the floor was only clay. Over the years, the building fell into ruins. It was in 1841 that a text mentioned the need to rebuild a church. The chapel was demolished and in 1843, on June 15 of the Feast of God, the first stone of the new Damgan church was blessed.
