MONUMENTAL MARTYRDOM OF GUÉHENNO
Calvary of Guéhenno, classified as a monumental Calvary of Brittany, with an altarpiece carved in a single piece of granite of 2 m
The Calvary of Guéhenno is the largest in Morbihan. It is classified as a monumental Calvary of Brittany and is part of the association of the 7 monumental Calvaries. The original calvary, built in 1550, was destroyed in 1794. It was not until 1853 that the work was noted by Father Jacquot, who decided to add new elements. He added an ossuary to it in 1863. A 15th century altarpiece, carved from a single 2-metre piece of granite, is attached to it. Father Jacquot's tomb faces the monument.
