THE REMARKS
The ramparts were only rediscovered and developed after the destruction of the Second World War
In 1250, John I the Red decided to build fortifications on the left bank. Despite the various destructions and reconstructions, the walls visible today date from the 15th century! Progressively enclosed in the urban fabric, the ramparts were only rediscovered and developed after the destruction of the Second World War. Four towers remain: the Carmes tower (to the north-east), the Broerec'h tower and the Saint-Nicolas tower (to the south) and the Rospadern tower on the banks of the Blavet. The walk on the ramparts offers a beautiful view of the city.
