ROCK SITE
An emblematic site offering a view of the Vilaine, the bridges and the marina
The site of Le Rocher is an emblematic place of La Roche-Bernard, as much for the view it offers of the Vilaine, the bridges and the marina, as for its history. Legend has it that it was on seeing this rock and the site that the founders of the town - the Vikings, it seems - decided to settle there. Two beautiful cannons are enthroned there, salvaged from the ship Just sunk at the Battle of the Cardinals in 1759. The site is one of the points of interest of the heritage trail, set up by the municipality.
