THE FORGES OF THE HALLS
The Forges des Salles site houses one of the oldest wood forges in Brittany, an outstanding remnant of a prosperous and industrial activity for three centuries. The activity of the forge stopped in 1877, but the village continued to live and here it is preserved and restored. The master of the forges, the chapel, the school, the workshops of blacksmiths and carpenters, the halles and the furnace building tell the unique story of a life in community more than 200 years ago. A permanent exhibition is distributed in about ten pieces of visits, made of objects, photos, and about thirty kakemonos illustrated and educational dealing with topics as diverse as fascinating, on the history of the steel industry and the forges of the Rooms, charcoal and ore, steel technology, and the steel technology, and the lives of the Bretons and their families in the forest, in the forge and in the community, not forgetting the role of the leaders.
