VILLA KERLILON
Seaside villa with a Renaissance and classic roof, featuring a patchwork of architectural styles
Built by the Ouizille family, this seaside villa had a famous destiny. Admiral Dönitz appropriated it to lead the famous Battle of the Atlantic (1940-1942). From September 1944 to May 1945, the German General Staff occupied it as the defence headquarters of the Lorient "pocket". Its military vocation continued in the 1950s as it housed the command of the military district of Lorient. The Kerlilon villa has a patchwork of architectural styles, from the Mansard style for the roof to the Renaissance style and the classicism of the 17th century.
