Fort built in 1747 on the small island of Keragan to defend the flourishing city of Lorient from English attack.
The fort was built in 1747, on the small 6,000 m² island of Keragan (commonly known as "Fort-Bloqué"), some 100 m from the shore, to defend the flourishing city of Lorient from English attack. However, it was only used during the revolutionary and imperial wars. The current buildings were rebuilt in the 19th century. The fort, which is privately owned and available for rental, is accessible on foot at low tide and by car.
