ROHAN CASTLE
Typical Breton castle of the 15th and 16th centuries, one of the last ones built in Brittany, guided tours in summer
The castle of Pontivy is one of the last castles built in Brittany. It was built on the ruins of a 12th century feudal castle. Its current version, dated from the mid-fifteenth century and early sixteenth, is typical of Breton architecture of that time. It is also the place of the declaration of independence of Brittany in 1940, which will never see the day. Damaged by bad weather in 2014, it has benefited from major renovation work. Guided tours, dedicated to the fortress from its origins to the present day, are organized in summer.
