NOTRE-DAME-DE-TIMADEUC ABBEY

It was the abbot of the Abbey of La Trappe who founded Timadeuc on 24 July 1841. In September 1847, the monastery was made an abbey. The monks were expelled in 1880 and then returned. In 1863, a fire destroyed the abbey. The final monastery was rebuilt between 1925 and 1930. During the Second World War, Father Guénaël, a member of the Resistance, was deported. At the Liberation, the abbey was awarded the Resistance medal. In 1947, 14 monks from Timadeuc joined the abbey of Melleray in Loire-Atlantique. Adults are received in a guest house for a maximum stay of 8 days. You will share the life of prayer and silence of the community of 24 Trappist Cistercians. The abbey regularly organises themed weekends and monastic weeks. It is possible to join in the prayer of the community for a day and to meet a monk to ask for advice on a problem of daily life. For a first stay, the Trappists recommend a duration of two to three days. Later, an individual retreat can be longer, but not longer than a week. This proposal is intended for adults only. The Saint Martin Hotel has 6 rooms for a maximum capacity of 12 people.
