CAESAR'S CAMP
Go there and contact
It is a Gallic oppidum (fortified town) that rises to 113 m, overlooking the woods at the bottom of which lie the remains of the Villeneuve camp attributed to Caesar. Located on the top of a steep mound, this entrenchment benefits from a natural defence over a large part of its perimeter. Classified as a Historic Monument since 1973, the site is also a place of legends. Some people think of an underground chapel accessible from a slab of the path, others that a silver barrel would be in an underground... guarded by the Devil! Walkers, we recommend that you put on your hiking shoes and get the Circuit du Camp de César itinerary (see the tourist offices) to discover this beautiful heritage on foot.
