Museum housing a wide range of collections, complemented by audiovisuals and explanatory models.
Saint-Marcel is one of the high places of the French Resistance. It is on the outskirts of this small commune in the interior of Morbihan that, in the spring of 1944, an unparalleled mobilizing maquis was formed, where several thousand young Breton resistance fighters were armed and trained to take up the fight for the liberation of our territory. On June 18, 1944, one of the very first battles fought by French fighters against the German occupiers took place there after the Allied landing in Normandy. A victory of souls more than of weapons, the battle of Saint-Marcel will remain forever as the symbol of the sacred union between the SAS paratroopers of the Free France who had been dropped a few days earlier to arm the Resistance and to harass the enemy and the young maquisards supported and supplied by the inhabitants of the territory who suffered terrible reprisals. Located on the very site of the fighting in a vast wooded park, the Breton Resistance museum invites you to discover, in a 1,000 m² exhibition, the daily life of the Bretons under the Occupation and their commitment to the Army of Shadows until the fighting at the Liberation. A historical and educational visit for the whole family, which makes everyone aware of the duty to remember...
2021 marked a beautiful stage for this museum which has been renovated and modernized. After a little more than two years of work, it welcomes the public again since September 2021.

Qui reflète bien la souffrance des combattants mais aussi la souffrance de la population pendant cette guerre d'usure
