LE COMPTOIR AUX ÉPICES
The Spice Counter has become a vital part of the high-end grocery store in Bourges over the years. It has to be said that Armando Forte has fallen into the spices from the very earliest age, berrowed by his father to the scents of both here and elsewhere. Since then, twelve of the fourteen children of the family have worked in spices. All spices are sold in bulk here. Gigi, the wife of Armando, will make you discover perfumed salts (Himalaya, golden, trapper…), pepper and aromatized sugars (cherry, pistachio, Tatin pie) or various origins (Okinawa…). The spices, for their part, are honored on a large table where all the best mixtures are combined. Mixes made by Armando and Gigi with first choice pieces. A pizza, guacamole, or perfect success for a paella or basquaise chicken. The Spices Counter is also an incomparable choice of teas and infusions; again the mixtures are made on the spot. It also contains dried or candied fruits, but also other gourmets such as rose, violet or mint petals. A small delicately grocery radius can be used to purchase scented olive oil, sea rillets or fruit bowls. A true cavern of Ali Baba, a source of culinary inspiration!
