DOMAINE DE LA PERRIÈRE
From the top of the piton of Sancerre, the visitor discovered a huge natural cave. The monks Saint Augustine operated it in the twelfth century in a career where the stone used for the construction of Bourges Cathedral and the abbey of Saint-Satur was extracted. It was transformed into wine-growing operations in the 1850 s before sheltering a mushroom. In 1910, Magloire Archambault bought the latter to create the Perrière domain. This great man will be one of the pioneers of the appellation sancerre by developing the sauvigno grape. In 1996, Pierre Archambault gave his place to a young team to exploit and direct the field. The holding is now composed of a single plot of 10 hectares. Regularly, wines (White Sancerre, Red, Rosé, Count de La Perrière, Mégalithe, Sacrilège) are quoted, award-winning and present on the tables of major restaurants.
