CASTLE OF ANET
Renaissance castle dedicated to Diana the Huntress, with a portico decorated with her figure and a garden with her sculpture.
From the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, the municipality of Anet has always had a castle in its centre. King Philippe Auguste stayed there. Around 1470, the family of Brézé built the first building, in red bricks, still visible today. Then, a few years later, Diane of Poitiers, widow of Louis de Brézé, becomes the favorite of Henri II who asks À of the Elm to build the castle. She will very often come to Anet and is buried in the twin chapel. Today, there are only one third of the central building, the rest having been destroyed in the Revolution, and the chapel.
