In the southwest of France and the Gironde, the Arcachon Basin is home to 12 municipalities and 80 km of beaches and wooded dunes along the Côte d'Argent. This territory is largely open to the Atlantic Ocean through the basin's passes and shelters a small inland sea of 40 km² at low tide, 155 km² at high tide. This territory is dedicated to oyster farming, fishing and pleasure boating. In 2014, the Bassin d'Arcachon Marine Natural Park was created, which is home to a rich biodiversity.

When to go to the Bay of Arcachon? You can discover the Bay of Arcachon in any season. The high tourist season is in summer, when prices are higher and the tourist sites, including the Dune du Pilat, are very popular. Spring is a period recommended for its mildness and its colors. The winter atmosphere is not lacking in a charming rigor. The basin is then "yours" or almost. And what spoils nothing, the basin is in celebration all year long: Sea Festivals, Festival "Cadences", Cabanes en fête, fireworks... The Bassin d'Arcachon enjoys a mild climate and a generous sun all year round. However, winters are rainy. It snows once or twice a year. Autumn and winter storms sometimes blow with force. The passes are then impassable. Summers are dry and hot, but rarely hot thanks to the afternoon thermal breeze. Average temperatures range from 12°C in January to 27°C in August. The sea temperature varies from 11°C to 21°C.
