LA TOQUE CUIVRÉE - CANELÉS DE BORDEAUX

Bread cakes chocolates ice cream
3.8/5
31 reviews
Open - Close to 19h00

A true emblem of Bordeaux, the Canelé is a delicacy that dates from the 16th century. It is a pastry made of flour, eggs, milk, vanilla and rum... at first sight, nothing very extravagant you might say ! However, it is a real challenge, when you try to prepare them yourself, to succeed in the feat of obtaining a soft Canelé inside and crispy outside. Good news, you can put away your silicone molds! It is in the respect of the traditions that the Canelés are made! Big Canelés at 70 centimes each, Lunch Canelés at 50 centimes or Bite-sized Canelés at 40 centimes: the choice is yours, depending on your appetite and, above all, your sweet tooth! You can even be tempted by other specialties such as tourtières or caramels with Canelés chips! If you are not on the spot and you wish to make discover the Canelé to your close relations, know that you can order on line and that you will be delivered under 24 hours! During the holiday season, we recommend that you order from your local store.

This Meilleur Ouvrier de France pork butcher proposes in this beautiful shop on the rue Caulaincourt delicious pâtés en croûte: pâté Pantin, pâté de Houdan... each one more tasty than the other. Also in the spotlight, pig rillettes with Espelette chilli pepper, a garlic sausage of anthology and a superb press of foie gras. Nice delicatessen section too. The big advantage: all the delicatessen products are nitrite-free, with no additives or preservatives. The team's welcome is adorable. A high-flying address where it's good to go.

DU PAIN ET DES IDÉES

Bakery
4.3/5
3 reviews

Christophe Vasseur is an adorable boy, cheerful, passionate and talented. Commercial in fashion, he left behind everything to get a CAP in bakery and realise his dream. His ancient style shop is decorated with coasters, rustic ceiling drawings that dates as far as the year 1889 and the tables are decorated with ancient copper moulds. It is lovely and it perfectly corresponds to the spirit of the boss: tradition in modernity. He researched ancient recipes and adapted them to today's style. All breads are baked on stone, as in the past, this is what gives them the flat bottom and the thick crust which guarantees excellent preservation. He invented gastro bread like the Rabelais for foie gras, apple Pagnol for Vacherin. His «Pain des Amis» is a very flat bread, very crusted, the apple turnover is topped with apple and no compote, and as for its brioche with orange blossom, it is inspired by a recipe from North Africa. He thinks of stopping the French loaves so as to make only bread made from ancient and rare flour.

Covered market and market hall
4/5
2 reviews

Always elegant, right in the heart of the 6th arrondissement, the Saint-Germain market reopened its doors in 2017 after a major transformation that in no way detracted from the beauty of the place. The work has restored the market's architectural credentials, and the shops on site (greengrocers, fishmongers, cheesemongers...) now benefit from a site that's as functional as it is beautiful. Food markets, grocery stores and other major brands are open 7 days a week, with shorter opening hours on Sundays. A lovely whiff of neighborhood life.

ÉPICES ROELLINGER

Specialized grocery
4/5
1 review

The famous Breton chef Olivier Roellinger has hung up his apron, but not his desire for exoticism. This spice enthusiast opened this Parisian shop with his wife where, as in Cancale and Saint-Malo, the two other shops, he brings to life scents and flavours from all over the world: spices, chillies, peppers, vanillies, sea flowers, oils and condiments, as well as a few sweets. The proposed mixtures sublimate the meats, fishes and vegetables to which they can be subtly associated. The website offers everything that can be found in the shop. It's absolutely fabulous, and you'll be surprised to find that combining spices is a real art of living.

PIERRE HERMÉ

The first Pierre Hermé boutique was opened in Tokyo in 1998. The second one on rue Bonaparte was opened in 2001. Since then, it has been an undeniable success. The macaroons of this star pastry chef make even the most fashion-conscious ladies swoon: on the one hand, the "Infiniment" (vanilla, lemon, chocolate, pistachio...), on the other hand the "Signature" (Mogador, Chloé...). As for the pastries, the creations are divided into two categories: the unavoidable ones, such as the Ispahan (rose, raspberry, lychee) and the 2000 leaves, and the cakes according to the seasons. You can also enjoy a coffee at Café Pierre Hermé, on the other side of rue Bonaparte, at 61.

BELLOTA BELLOTA® TOUR EIFFEL

Mediterranean grocery
2/5
1 review

Welcome to this small piece of Spain in the heart of the 7th arrondissement! In a typical decor, this warm establishment bears the name of a famous Spanish ham that comes from a pig essentially fed with acorns. In addition to a beautiful Spanish charcuterie, you can buy there oils, canned fish and various Iberian tapas wich are delicious. Near the grocery counter, the restaurant corner with beautiful high tables with stools allows to eat on site if you want it. But for more space, a very beautiful basement room awaits you as well. The lastest thing of the restaurant is the Burger Iberico. It is a 100% Spanish recipe: a grilled chopped steak of presa Bellota a la plancha, a homemade salsa concocted with a crushed tomato and Espelette pepper jelly, a few salad leaves, sliced pieces of paleta (shoulder of Iberian ham Bellota) and a slice of manchego. But so many other Spanish delicacies await you on the spot… Nothing to say, Bellota Bellota® Eiffel Tower is really a safe value for lovers of Iberian food!

Some like him, others love him, and as if his title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France received in 2000 was not enough, some go as far as describing him as "Rodin of chocolate". It must be said that his sculptures are bold and absolutely wonderful, he even recreated a cobblestone of May 68 to mark the 40th anniversary. He dares new mixtures - sometimes 14 products assembled in one creation - that delight the palate. He combines textures and aesthetics. Patrick Roger is also a master of taste who works  in his chocosphere! He imagines everything in his workshop in Sceaux where he transforms chocolate into wonderful sweets or into giant pieces of 80 kilograms.
